Sandton City In-Building coverage solution

Sandton with its ever growing skyline, dense population and multitude of BTS sites creates a unique situation when designing an In-Building coverage solution that has to provide multiband and multi operator connectivity to a demanding clientele in Sandton’s newest building ‘Norten Rose’ in Alice Lane. The unique architecture coupled with a pre-deminately glass construction demanded a dominant internal signal to combat the macro layer and keep the inhabitants connected to the building network. A hybrid solution was deployed using a combination of active and passive Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

Multiple sectors were created in the building by using horizontal separations between sectors avoiding the need for soft handovers. The basements and car parks had a conventional passive DAS installed, whilst in both towers a fibre fed system and a remote radio head technology was installed.
