The New Christian Barnard Hospital in Cape Town boasts a recently completed DAS installation from Radio Network Solutions (RNS). The DAS, or Distributed Antenna System, will ensure that physicians, nurses, healthcare practitioners, patients and visitors benefit from uninterrupted mobile voice and data coverage inside the hospital.
Netcare states that the “Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital is a living tribute to its namesake, Professor Christiaan Barnard, who performed the world's first heart transplant in 1967.” They elaborate that Professor Barnard's legacy is carried forward by world class specialists practising at the hospital. These specialists continue to achieve 'firsts' in medical advancements and to harness cutting-edge medical technology to optimise outcomes for patients. *
According to a Wolters Kluwer Health infographic:
- 72% of physicians access drug information from smartphones.

- 44% of physicians communicate with nurses and other staff from smartphones. **
“With 80% of all mobile communications originating within buildings, appropriate wireless solutions are imperative,” explains RNS technical Director, Neil Nordgaard. “We are thrilled that our integrated solutions are able to benefit health organisations, such as the Netcare Group of Hospitals.”
